Authentic Dogon stool from Mali

€225.00 EUR

Small wooden stools of the Dogon tribe in Mali. These stools, supported by four twin figures representing the ancestors of the Dogon people called Nommo, were originally symbols of authority for the priests or hogons and not actually used as stools. The dark stool with a post in the middle is even more linked with Dogon mythology. The seat represents heaven, the base represents the earth, and the post represents a tree, linking the two.
