Iranian Handmade Block Printed Tablecloth with yellow-brown paisley motive
Liven up your table setting with a beautiful decorated cotton tablecloth! The many bright colours and detailed Persian patterns applied by hand will brighten up your dining room, kitchen or outside table.
The cloth has paisley designs which was originally a Persian botanical motif called buta or boteh. This design is still very popular in Iran and Central Asian countries.
The art of Ghalamkar or wood-block printing on cotton cloth has been a specialty in Esfahan, Iran for centuries. The beautiful repeated designs are made with handcrafted wood-blocks and by impressing four or five organic colours, like turmeric, rose, pomegranate skin and grape juice, continuously by hand. After the prints are finished, the cloth is boiled in white alum which fixes the colours. You can wash these cloths up to 80 degrees Celsius without worrying about fading colours!
