Weathered food box

€125.00 EUR

Wooden rectangular box that was used during the Qing dynasty to carry small snacks and food from the kitchen to another room. This weathered box is decorated with auspicious geometric patterns which are commonly found in Buddhism. In religious context these symbols would indicate 'auspiciousness' and 'good luck', but on this foodbox they could mean 'abundance'; clearly a wish to never go hungry!
