Wooden rice basket
Chinese food containers come in many, many, many different sizes and forms, but the wooden grain or rice containers have some of the more interesting shapes. This rustic container was made over a hundred years ago to transport rice. Now it is ideal for magazines, towels or other small items. It was made with rough iron finishes on the sides. The handle has two iron rings for rope which was attached on a farmer’s bamboo carrying pole. This basket has aged wonderfully, with a smooth finish on the handle developed from the touch of hundreds of hands. Even though the product is antique, the design could be contemporary.
